That day at Utah Lake was unlike any of my past visits. I went with colleagues from Utah Photography, and the atmosphere was alive — filled with the chatter of birds and ducks, with a calm spring breeze carrying their calls across the water. Usually, I’ve seen this lake under cloudy skies, but that evening the light was extraordinary.

The sunset painted the water in shades of rose, magenta, and lavender, while the snow still crowned the distant mountains. A solitary duck glided across the lake, leaving ripples that mirrored the sky. After a record-breaking winter, the reservoir had recovered, and for a moment the worries of summer algal blooms felt far away. Everything about that evening felt exceptional — peaceful, romantic, and alive with renewal.

This photograph has become one of my personal favorites, not just for its beauty, but for the story it tells about resilience, light, and the promise of spring.
